About Salsa Power

Juan Carlos Espinoza

For the past sixteen years he has been recognized as an international salsa dance instructor and choreographer (performances in Barcelona, Cadiz, London, Santiago de Compostela, Paris, Austria, Germany, Tunisia, Cannes, Italy and Los Angeles) under the label “Salsa Power”. He was the driving force of the biggest salsa events in Switzerland (Zurich Salsa Congress 2002, 2003 and 2004, Swiss Salsa Championships 2002, Salsa New Year at the Zurich Congress House 2002 ) through his exceptional and extensive  network of relationships with the biggest salsa stars in the world. Juan Carlos took professional lessons with the legendary Eddie Torres in New York. In Cuba he took up on Cubano Casino, Rueda Cubana, and Despelote Afrocubano for six months. In Chile, he attended jazz dance and ballet classes. Juan Carlos has been living for the past eighteen years in Switzerland. Event Organization Juan Carlos 2002 initiated and co-organized the first Salsa Congress in Switzerland. In the two following years through is great efforts in the Zurich congress hall he was able to develop one of the biggest Salsa congresses known around the world (now known as Salsa Festival Switzerland). In 2005 the first Event "Premio la Clave" in Zurich was introduced by Salsa Power alone. Through this event, Salsa Power wanted to provide Swiss dancers a platform to showcase their skills. Salsa Power is keen to promote the joy of movement, dance, rhythm and music to the young and young at heart.

Shows

Salsa Power was one of the first dance groups that was allowed to represent Switzerland in international salsa events. With its professional shows and workshops, Salsa Power was able to become internationally known. Salsa Power was also repeatedly requested for appearances by varous television stations. They appeared on shows in SF DRS and VIVA. In addition, their performance on TVE, a big Spanish station, was a great sentation.

Dance school

Juan Carlos was able to gain experience at international level and lives of salsa and his passion. Through its great expertise in pedagogy and didactics Salsa Power achieved a high level of quality and professionalism in its courses. Many dance teachers in the German-speaking Switzerland learn from or attend classes in Salsa Power. Salsa Power has dance schools in Zurich and Lucerne.

Training

Salsa Power trains instructors whom teach under name of Salsa Power. Salsa Power currently has six trained dance teachers and three still in training.

Awards

Salsa Power is proud to have received various awards for their work as a dance instructors, show dancers and choreographers as well as for promoting Salsa in Switzerland as well as abroad.
